Hawkes Bay Gisborne Cross Country Relay

HNI entered a girls’ team and a boys’ team into the HBG Cross Country Relay.

All runners had to complete 2.2km each at Anderson Park on Monday 12th May with relay teams made up of four runners.

It was a mass start so every 1st runner was off trying to make their way to the front as fast as they could. The 1st HNI girl’s runner was Jubilee Engelke who had a superb run. The 2nd  runner, Siena Harrison, was tagged and zoomed off trying to gain back a position. Siena came around the corner sprinting hard for the finish line and then passed her baton onto Ana Rathbone. Ana was gone in a flash and returned around the corner full out sprinting, passing the baton to the last runner, Holly Bensemann. Holly was off running fast around the course and had crossed the finish line to the cheers of her team.

The whole team had done really well and had completed all their legs in 41 minutes and 49 seconds putting them in 6th  place overall.

The race was on for the HNI boys’ team. First off with the baton was Reagan Singer. The race started off with a loud bang and everyone was off. Reagan was coming in first for the year 7&8 boys sprinting down the shoot like the speed of light he quickly crossed the line in a mind blowing time and passed the baton onto Sam Waddington.

Sam kept a fast steady pace and held the lead all the way sprinting for the end of his leg. He accurately passed the baton onto Reid Livingston.

Reid maintained his lead with great speed and was running faster and faster around the course he jumped the stream and headed for the end of the third leg and passed the baton onto Will Tidswell.

Will was off like a rabbit heading along the freshly mowed grass and around the course and crossed the finish line giving HNI’s boys’ team the win for year 7&8 boys.

Reagan also got a trophy for the fastest year 7&8 boy’s time around the course (8 minutes, and 17 seconds), Will had the second fastest (8 minutes, and 47 seconds) Sam had the fifth (9 minutes, and 40 seconds) and Reid had the 6th (9 minutes, and 46 seconds).

Both girls’ and boys’ teams did extremely well and had a great afternoon competing.

Will's Powtoon

The year 7 extension maths classroom each created a Powtoon about how to add and subtract integers. In the Powtoon I have also explained what integers are and have included a word problem to make things simpler. Here is the Powtoon that I created.

Will's Four Hauora Walls

I have been thinking about the four walls that help to make a good human being and stay fit and healthy. We had to think about our MENTAL + EMOTIONAL well-being. Our PHYSICAL well-being. Our SPIRITUAL well-being and our SOCIAL well-being. Here is my thoughts on The four walls of Hauora.
