Materials Technology

In Materials Technology we learnt about the different sorts of cams and the scientific name for them. We also learnt about what each of the cams do. We then gathered everything onto a document and explained what they do.

Letter For Camp

Room 10
Havelock North Intermediate
Nimon St
Havelock North

30th March 2015

Dear Ms Elliot

Thank you so much for helping out at camp and making it an enjoyable experience for everyone.

You did a lot of things such as when Zhayne hurt his head, you looked after him and helped him out. Also in archery-soft you reminded us which way to face the bow when reloading, how to shoot and how to aim.

My favourite part was probably the archery-soft and the mudslide/flying fox, even though it hurt when going down the slide, it was still lot’s of fun! I adored everything on the camp and really enjoyed the new experiences, such as abseiling. Camp was a great experience and it couldn’t have been done without you.

Everyone knows that you spent most of the time in the shadows helping out and cooking the mouth watering meals that we had for dinner, lunch, breakfast and even snacks. All the food was delicious and tasted so good.

I really am glad that I went to camp and gave everything a go. You were a really great help and I think everyone enjoyed you and the others being there and helping out.

Yours sincerely

Will

ANZAC Homework

For our homework Room 10 had to choose 4 tasks from a grid. Everything was to do with ANZAC and one that I chose was to write a diary entry for April 25th 1915.  You are a soldier, who three days ago landed at Gallipoli.  It is evening and you are still alive; a small miracle.  You pull out your diary and stub of a pencil and start to write…

Day 1 1915 April 25th
It’s only the first day of the real war and already it’s only me and brother left from our friends. The sun is setting, beautiful against the shimmering water. The beach is scattered with dead men and the sea is a dark red. I’ve been shot twice, in my leg and my shoulder. A doctor has already treated me and says I can go on. But after what I have seen… I don’t really want to. The gun shots are like mind tricks you think they’re going to hit you but you're the lucky one and they miss.
The Turks are up top they’ve mowed us down, it’s not as easy as it should have been and we shouldn’t even have landed here, but it turns out we did. Which was a mistake.

No one had seen the Turks in their purchase high up on the hill side. They were blended in with the hill side. We arrived early at around 5:45 in the morning. My mates and I were lucky we weren’t on the first ships but we know what happened to the ones that were. Some shot even before they touched the water. We all thought that everything would be great. But we didn’t expect this! No not one of us did. But I’m not entirely sure what we did expect. My Brothers with me, writing his diary beside me. I’ve kept on having weird flashbacks of home. I signed up only at the age of 15. There are hundreds of bodies scattered over the beach. My stomach has turned over and we’re all gagging for air, from the smell of dead bodies. The flies  are everywhere it’s horrible! We’re the lucky ones. It’s going to be hard to claim the land and I feel like we’ve already lost.
