Masterton Exchange

On June Thursday and Friday, some people from HNI went over on a bus to Masterton to compete against Masterton Intermediate. On the first day I met my host named Daniel he was really nice. I then went o a bus to a lake. When we got their everybody doing the harriers (which is cross-country) walked around the lake to know what the track and course was to run. After we had walked the course the girls we went first. Sadly Masterton Intermediate came 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but HNI came fourth and fifth. After most of the girls came in. The boys started off. I was in seventh when we started off but slowly I past people and before you know it I was in 2nd. In front of me was a Masterton kid who was a year 8. After sticking with him for most of the way we left the others behind us and he started picking up speed. My legs were pumping hard to try and catch up to him but I couldn't. The finish was nearing and he was in front. I sprinted for the finish and crossed the line. I came second. Heavy breathing. Tired. Exhausted. It was a hard race.

I found my host back at the school and we went to his house. We played soccer at his house and had a delicious dinner. After having a good night sleep. I woke up the next morning and went to school to play soccer.

After getting changed into my soccer gear we started getting ready to play. The girls finished and had won 2-1. They scored in the last 5 seconds of the game. The HNI boys team went onto the field to face the Masterton team. They started off with the ball and I was a left back. That went well for me but I was soon changed up to the midfield by Mr Burnie. We were winning 4-0 at the start and soon were winning 9-0 in the second half. I was up the front and Christian past the ball to me. I took a quick snap at the goal and got a nutmeg with me left foot. When the game finished we had won 11-0. Everyone from HNI and Masterton did really well. We got changed and came back to the hall. We all sat down and listened to the results. HNI won 12 different games and Masterton won 6. HNI won overall and the teachers from HNI won against the teachers from Masterton so it was a clean sweep for HNI. After HNI had got packed up we headed for the bus. We got back to school and broke the news to everyone that we won. It was a fun and exciting experience and I did really well with my results. Everyone had a fun and exciting time.
