In science we have been learning and understanding convection. We trialed some experiments such as a tea bag getting lit on fire and how it rises. The reason for this is because there is a column of hot air rising all the way up to the ceiling. Once the teabag is burned the cooler air rushes underneath the teabag which pushes the hot air up. We also did another experiment where inside the bottle was warm water and once you placed the cold ice cube in the ice cube started to melt. Since the cube was cooler than it's surrounding once the cube melted the cubes resistance slowly goes to the bottom because it's the same density but cooler. Convection is the movement of heat energy. More dense - cooler, heavier, particles are closer. Less dense - warmer, lighter, particles further apart/energetic.
have you explored conduction and radiation too?
