ANZAC KWL

Before we started anything on ANZAC we wrote down what we knew and what we wanted to know then we found out the answers to what we wanted to know.

What do I know about Anzac Day and the Anzacs?
What do I want to know?
What  I have learnt
ANZAC stand for Australian New Zealand Army Corps.
ANZAC day represents the time to remember the people who are dead and who served their lives to help the ones that are alive and here today.
ANZAC day is also the day when the first world war started.
The Anzacs were the name of what the people in charge called the New Zealanders and Australians to show where they are and how far in they have gone.
I want know why they signed up after hearing that many men and woman had died in Gallipoli.
I would also like to know why any of them signed up at all because it’s basically saying here is a death certificate.
Who wrote the famous poem… poppies grow rows on rows. Why is the dawn service so early? What sort of guns did the soldiers use? What countries were the turks attacking? Why did the turks attack Australia?
That ANZAC biscuits were not sent to Gallipoli. The ANZAC biscuits that did go to war later on in 1917 etc. were used for bread instead of ANZAC biscuits. People signed up because they wanted an adventure and though they wouldn’t get killed.
John McCrae wrote the famous poem, in Flanders field.
The dawn service is early because that’s when the ANZAC soldiers landed on the beach of Gallipoli.
The soldiers used rifles, machine guns and gas.
The turks attacked all the allied forces.
