NYLD Palmerston North

NYLD (National Young Leaders Day) was held for young leaders in Palmerston North.
46 of us loaded onto a fancy bus ready for the spell binding experience at 6:30am. We quickly sorted out our seats and waited the whole 3 hours chatting away busily talking about our previous experiences of NYLD.
We soon arrived at our destination waiting intently, then scrambled out onto the pavement almost in orderly fashion. We walked as a sea of green into the entrance moving the different colours of students apart. Soon we all sat down in our chosen seats and waited for the show to begin which took 3 minutes.
The lights dimmed down to nothing and then a 3-D circle hanging from the roof lit up in bright green. "Oooos" and "Ahhhhs" came from the crowd as the light show began. Then a voice boomed over the crowd - "welcome to the NYLD!" Then several spotlights focused on the hosts walking onto the stage.
In total we had 8 magnificent speakers who shared their stories and abilities with us. They all talked about their challenges and how they overcome them or used their strengths or non strengths to become one of the best.
While the show was being held everyone were taking some notes about ways to become a better leader. Here are the notes that I wrote down:

Make the most of everything and failing is alright
Don't make any excuses
Don't let fear and doubt get in the way of your dreams and goals.
Pick yourself up and have the courage to do it.
It takes a lot of hard work to do it.
Think all passion no limits
Because passion created success and the only limitations is yourself.
1. Courage life scares you and you have to beat it
2. Teamwork because life is all about teamwork because you need help.
3. Resilience you will be able to do whatever you like.
Everyday is a good day.
You will be able to reach your goals by all passion no limits.
While your on your life journey think all passion no limits.

You all have something to give to this world.
Every single one of us have challenges.
Exceed your expectation.
You can be whatever you want to be.
Believe.
In your dreams anything is possible.
All you can be is the best you can be.
Difference is a good thing.
Impossible is nothing.
Do you give up your dream or continue.
There is no recipe to success only hoe hard you push yourself.
You have to step out of your comfort zone.
Showcase that you guys can achieve anything.
You can create any future for yourself.
You need to be good at becoming good.
Luck is reflection of what you see what you do.
Dream big achieve more.
We are the start of a really exciting journey.
A flea has the ability to jump 20000 it's on height.
You get pain for doing well.
Enjoy the journey.
Surround yourself by positive people.
If someone says you can't do stuff show them up.
The troubles that you have can be turned around into your greatest assets.

How proud would others be when you achieve high.

If you want to change you have to do something about it.
Set your mountains
Set goals to help you develop.
Trying a little are harder to be a little bit better everyday.
1.Make your rules and mountains.
2.find your flow, that you are passionate about or come naturally to. What are you passionate about? Make sure when your good at something you become good for something.
3.grow your support, others will support you when the time gets tuff.
Surround yourself with people who are going to help you not put you down.
If your not good at something doesn't mean you are always not going to be good at it.
Begin with the end in mind.

Life is a work in progress.
Built a great team around your family.
Talk to your parents as if you like them.
If you want your parents to support you let them into your world because they are your biggest supports.
Talk to your parents.
Understand your friendships are changing.
The greatest fear is rejection.
Your friends don't live in the consequences that you create.
Stand up for what is right for you instead of standing up for your mates.
There are people in this audience who are surprised to be here.
Every single person has potential.
We think we are worth less because someone is mean.
The value of a note can't change and neither are can you.
Valuable.
It doesn't matter where you started.
Often we feel like we have not control over whats happening.
Your family is your biggest inspiration.
We work a lot in our lives what would you want to do. Choose between what you love and what you are good at.
Do what your parents ask you to do.
You are really valuable.

You don't have to be exceptional to do exceptional things.
Exceptional or not you can do exceptional things.
You need to get involved.
Success means inspiring helping and motivating others.
Challenge yourself to be successful and get involved.
Being successful starts now not in the future.
You all have power and influence now.
You have a choice to do exceptional things.
Each and everyone of you are not future leaders you are leaders now.

Make the most of every opportunity that you come across.
Realize the importance of every opportunity.
Take up the opportunity.
If you make the most of every opportunity you are guaranteed to get somewhere in life.
You don't have to know what you want to do yet.
Take every opportunity to figure out what you want to do.
What is it that you want to get across to others.

NYLD was incredible and an unbelievably must see experience and show. It topped any of the other years that I've been. They had great enthusiasm, speakers and co-operation with the audience. I learnt so much from the experience and was mind blown by how much they try to overcome their obstacles and their commitment. NYLD will inspire other young leaders or non, because everyone is a leader. The speaker that stood out for me was Marcus Winter. He was incredible and I learnt a lot from him such as, make your mountains, find your flow and grow your support. What I also really liked was how he wasn't the best at speed in his handwriting and in his report it said they he was very slow and needs to get faster so he turned that into one of his strengths. NYLD is a fun event for everyone and everyone will learn a lot about leadership and challenges.
